Down Syndrome Symptoms


The signs that arise due to Down syndrome can vary from invisible at all, seemed at least until the first sign characteristic. The most characteristic signs in children suffering from Down syndrome is the underdevelopment of physical and mental development in children (Olds, London, & Ladewing, 1996).

Patients are very easily identified with the physical appearance of the prominent forms a relatively small head of normal (microchephaly) with the horizontal anteroposterior head. On the face usually appear between the flat nose, a smaller mouth and protruding tongue (macroglossia). Often, the eyes become slanted at an angle to form the center fold (epicanthal folds).

Clinical signs in other parts of the short-hand including the fingers segment and the distance between the first and second fingers on both hands and feet wide. Meanwhile, the skin layer usually appears wrinkled (dermatoglyphics). These chromosomal abnormalities can also be caused by interference or even damage to other organ systems. In the digestive system abnormalities can be found on the esophageal obstruction (esophageal atresia) or duodenum (duodenal atresia). If the child had suffered a blockage in the organs will usually be followed by vomiting. In the newborn can be a Congenital abnormalities Heart Disease. This disorder is usually fatal in which the baby can die quickly.
